Quick White Bread (Mom's)

There is nothing like fresh bread out of the oven.

Equipment

  • Large bowl, 4 loaf pans, large mixing spoon, measuring cups, measuring spoons, cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 3 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp. yeast instant or non instant yeast instructions are included
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup sunflower oil
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 7-8 cups white flour

Instructions

  • 1 a. Set sugar, water and yeast aside to rise, when active go to step 2.
  • 1 b. Put sugar, water and yeast in a large bowl.
  • 2. Add oil, salt and 7 cups of flour.
  • 3. Mix with a large spoon until it becomes a stiff dough.
  • 4. Sprinkle in some flour and knead the dough by hand, adding flour a little at a time until the dough is no longer sticky.
  • 5. Knead by hand for 10 minutes.
  • 6. Turn the dough, smooth side up, cover with a tea towel and set aside to rise for 30 minutes.
  • 7. Punch down dough and turn out on a lightly oiled surface and knead into a smooth circle. Divide into 4 portions, put into greased pans, cover with the tea towel and let rise until double. To keep dough from sticking sprinkle a little flour in top before putting on towel.
  • Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.
    (optional settings and time 375-400 degrees for 30 minutes)
