Sunday Thoughts September 5, 2021

As members of our stake gathered together to form a choir for our upcoming stake conference, the thought came to my mind, I’m sorry I cannot exactly remember the context of the conversation, but, it is so easy to just sing the songs at church out of habit. They seem so common and we all know most of them.

Many times I think ‘there is more than just a song we sing’ and someone added ‘that there is a message there.’

So today I am going to put down some of the words to the songs we are singing for conference, and I am going to truly thing in depth, their meaning. I invite you to do the same.

I love Subway Art. Some may think it is old fashioned but not me.

I believe in Christ; he is my King!

With all my heart to him I’ll sing;

I’ll raise my voice in praise and joy,

In grand amens my tongue employ.

I believe in Christ; he is God’s Son.

On earth to dwell his soul did come.

He healed the sick; the dead he raised.

Good works were his; his name be praised.

Text : Bruce R. McConkie

Music: John Longhurst
