My road to better health
The Why?
#1 I am overweight
I am addicted to sugar & chocolate
I am addicted to fast food
I have low energy & feel older than 55 & I have a lot of life to live (my mom looks better/healthier than I do)
My body is too out of whack: posture, lacking strength
Stomach acid is horrible
There is history of Sclerosis of the liver
The Plan!
I will start with the GAPS DIET (Intro and then Full)
The 3- Season Diet
Keto (some)
Exercise
I love my notebooks. I found one that gives me encouragement with the cover: ‘actually I CAN’
I got this to keep track of my progress. It has a list of GAPS approved foods and the non-approved foods. I will also have the 3-season lists for each season.
I carry my notebooks in my purse, and it goes everywhere with me.
First the GAPS DIET
This book by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride
I’ve had this book for quite a few years. I’ve done a lot of research. I’ve tried to do this, 2 different times, but the third time’s the charm right?
This is meant to help seal and heal the gut lining. There is an Introduction phase and the full Gaps phase.
Viewing her speeches on YouTube is fascinating.
This book is very helpful breaking down each stage complete with recipes
This was referred by a YouTuber that I watch regularly. Marissa explains so many things well, with lots of tutorials.
Second 3-Season Diet
I found out about this book from a fellow blogger at Mary’s Nest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdTF67pQf4c
What got me to perk up, was he discusses the importance of eating foods, in the season of its harvest and availability. Take from the Word of Wisdom, D&C 89:11 …in the season thereof…
Aren’t there 4 seasons? Yes, but not much grows during the winter, so fall and winter are together.
Keto (some)
There are several recipes that go hand in hand with the foods on the Gaps diet, and there are things that I won’t be using either, so that is where the “some” comes in.
Exercise
This is an area that I have struggled with for years. But honestly, it needs to go along with good eating habits and foods. This will also help with my back. I have scoliosis and I wore a brace on my back when I was a teenager, for 2 years. It helped a lot. My x-ray looked like a big question mark. While it wasn’t perfect, it was much better after the 2 years. I did need to wear it at night for a year, but no more missing out on drill team and other things I sacrificed.
Exercise is always needed. It doesn’t need to come with a gym membership either. I have been walking the property’s as I do inspections and taking locks off of units. Walking briskly. I am striving to take the stairs more at Hale. Working in the yard with the plans we have this year and the years to come will also help.
When I’m done
There should never be a done. Once I have gone through Gaps and feel that my gut is healed, then I will continue living a healthier life by following the Nourishing Traditions guidelines, found in this book, another one that I have had for quite some time and have worked at doing this. Working full-time has made it more difficult, but I will work harder.
Sally Fallen Morrell is the founder and president of The Weston A. Price foundation and wants to educate everyone how things are so unhealthy now and explains the findings of Weston A. Price a dentist.
This made so much sense to me especially if we take another look at the Word of Wisdom D&C 89:4…In consequence of evils and designs of conspiring men in the last days… just compare what she says to what is going on today.

There is a learning curve, take it step by step, but the results will be worth it for you and your family.
I start my journey on January 30th (because it is Sunday and a good day to start) and will do the Intro for one month (according to how my body is feeling).
I will update monthly.
